Dedication, Discipline & Mindset

When Cade McCarthy came to me about 8 months ago for individual run coaching, I knew he had something special and would be a great person to work with.

At 15 and he was the youngest runner I’ve ever coached. In our first call, I knew that with this kid, discipline, work ethic and a positive attitude would be a given. I could just tell. I had a gut feeling.

Through our time of working together, he did the do things, even  getting in the cold plunge cattle trough from his town in Nelson, BC after his tougher runs. And I’ve enjoyed every single coaching call with him. He gives me just as much positive energy as I give him, and that is pretty cool!

I could count on him to be there for our weekly calls and I’m not sure if he even missed one run during all of our time together so far. As I said to him after his last race, he is going to go places with this type of work ethic and attitude at such a young age.

Cade ran is first 1/2 marathon with his mom on Mother’s Day with flying colours, and than it was time to get ready for his first triathlon...As you can see, he did VERY well, finishing 3rd in the 16-19 age group while having 18th FASTEST RUN TIME IN THE ENTIRE FIELD!!

Now he’s got even bigger goals for another half in Victoria in the fall and has is sights set on getting really fast for cross country! Sidebar, he is also a very good tennis player and golfer.

Cade- it is an absolutely pleasure to coach you and I am so excited to what he future brings!
