Do You Journal?
A key part of my daily routine is journalling.
Lately once I'm up in the morning and have my coffee, I sit and write to begin my day. I don’t overthink it. I just write what is on my mind. Every morning without fail.
My writing may be completely random or it may be specific, like when I am setting my intention for my day.
On days we have class, I'm even more specific. For example I'll write my intention for the energy of the class, perhaps the vision for how it's going to go and the outcome created for you all, or my focus for class to provide the best experience for all of you.
Mostly, journaling for me is a way to clear my head, get thoughts, ideas and intentions on paper. It is fairly freeform, or what some people call free writing.
How to start Journaling:
Get yourself a pen you like to write with. (small, yet important factor!)
Use a dedicated notebook. You can get yourself something specific to journalling, however a simply spiral notebook is perfect.
Keep your journal somewhere that you'll see it. This visual reminder will support creating a new habit. Your nightstand, kitchen table or desk are great options.
Attach your journaling to another part of your day - as mentioned, for me it's while drinking my morning coffee. Writing at the end of the day is great as well, especially if you're focusing gratitude.
Some of you may prefer more structure. There are so many options available that focus on journalling for physical, mental and emotional health. A simple google search will provide a ton of templates.
Regardless of what you are going through in your life - good, bad or something in between, put your thoughts on paper and make it a habit. You will be blown away by the impact it can have on your mindset and your life overall!
